Creating a simple Ahnentafel

An ahnentafel is a list of ancestors numbered so that the starting person is 1, his or her father and mother are 2 and 3, the father's father 4, father's mother 5, mother's father 6, mother's mother 7, etc.

If you go by this definition, all ancestor reports in Genbox can be ahnentafels since you can simply choose the Ahnentafel numbering system on the "Style" tab of the report:

Ahnen02

...and in fact, as Genealogy.com has it:

A comprehensive ahnentafel gives more than the individual's name, date and place of birth, christening, marriage, death and burial. It should give biographical and historical commentary for each person listed, as well as footnotes citing the source documents used to prove what is stated.

So I could end this entry right here.

However, when people speak of "an ahnentafel" most of the time they mean a simple no-frills ancestor list, without media or headers, with just Birth, Death and Marriage events for all persons involved.

And such a report is not included in the default reports for Genbox. You can easily create one by modifying the included Ancestor Plain report.

Ahnen01

First, change the report's main title:

Ahnen03

Move to the Headings tab next, change the "Generation headings" setting to "(omit)" and the odd/even headers to "Ahnentafel for [KEY]":

Ahnen04_1

Click the "ALL" radio button on the Content tab and change the preferences like so:

Ahnen05

Make sure Generation number superscripts and Back references are set to "Omit" on the Style tab:

Ahnen06

...and bob's your uncle.

Genealogyprinters.com has a link to you (Genbox), but it says page can't be displayed when you click it
